Question of the Month:

Is there any benefit to combining cardio with weight training or can I do them separately and still see results? My goal is to lose fat and tone up.

Expert’s Response

Mixing strength training and endurance training is a form of aerobic circuit training. This type of circuit consists of six to 10 exercises (each exercise is performed for eight to 12 repetitions) interspersed with one to four minutes of cardio training. Depending on your fitness level, you might do one circuit or several circuits during each workout. This type of workout is wonderfully time-efficient, good for energy expenditure (for attaining weight loss goals), a lot of fun and can be easily completed at a gym or at home (with some equipment). Since variety is a major key to exercise adherence for many fitness enthusiasts, incorporating aerobic circuit training into your workouts is a great addition to your plan.
