Future of Fitness

Jessica Decker

By Sandy Braz

Home: Newport Beach, CA
Gig: Executive assistant
Age: 24 Height: 5’4”
Weight: 118 lb

Advice for first timers: Jessica says she’s played every sport
under the sun at least once. Her best advice for gym newcomers: “Your health and fitness goals are not a sprint to the finish,” says Jessica. “It’s a long road, but worth it.”

Cardio vs. weights: This young executive assistant says she’s managed to strike a good balance between the two. “I bulk up pretty fast so it’s really important for me to stretch, run and walk in between weight-training sessions.”

Workout music: “I am a big house junky,” says Jessica. “Anything with a great beat that you can dance to is what I work out to.”

What drives you to push yourself? “I talk to myself,” laughs Jessica. “Like, ‘Hold it for 10 more seconds,’ or ‘Five more reps!’”
