Training

So much for predictions. With the sport of figure always evolving, the winners are anybody's guess.

2009 IFBB Jacksonville Pro Figure Classic.

When you see a contest lineup filled with familiar names, you learn to expect a certain outcome. For that reason most thought the 2009 IFBB Jacksonville Pro Figure Classic was going to be a predictable show, with Jenny Lynn taking the top spot after training for what was expected to be her comeback from her 2008 Figure Olympia loss. So much for predictions.

The headliners had all competed enough times to develop a reputation: Erin Stern for her muscle, well-put-together physique and God-given V-shape; Jessica Putnam – better known as a top fitness model than a figure competitor – for her exotic beauty; and Jenny Lynn who, since the 2008 Olympia, made it known that she had been training to win. But that’s not the way it went and no one could have predicted the outcome.

Instead it was Putnam who stole the show, followed by Stern in second and Lynn in third. Other surprises came from seasoned veteran Krissy Chin who totally reinvented her body and ended up cracking the top four. Then, Siobhan Tewari, a relatively unknown competitor (some thought she had retired after earning her pro card in 2008 at the IFBB North American Championships), pleasantly caught everyone off guard, landing in fifth place in her pro debut.

All in all, the show had its share of surprises, proving that the sport is still evolving and that predictions can hold little weight.
