1. Begin each day with some deep breathing and simple stretching (gently rocking head side to side, torso rotations and reaching for your toes). “Taking less than two minutes can extend your well-being for hours,” says Christine Gerbstadt MD, RD and creator of nutronicshealth.com.

2. Sustain your energy and revved metabolism by eating frequently, says Heidi Skolnik, CDN, a sports nutritionist with the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Have a snack or small meal every two to three hours, choosing foods.

3. Start your day with a powerhouse breakfast that will energize you all day, says Barbara Lewin, RD, a sports nutritionist and owner of sports-nutrition.com. Try muesli: yogurt, fruit, nuts and whole-grain cereal mixed together.

4. If you get stung by a bee while training outside, wash the area with soap and water then wipe the area with a four-inch by four-inch piece of gauze, or scrape lightly with a fingernail and apply ice. Squeezing or using tweezers can cause more venom to go into the skin, according to the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.

5. Grill your meats thoroughly. According to the USDA, one out of every four hamburgers turns brown in the middle before it’s done. Use a food thermometer, and cook lean ground beef and pork to 160 degrees and poultry to 165.
