Nutrition

When it comes to giving yourself a quick pick-me-up, it’s all about choosing the right fuel at the right time to help you keep your mind, and your motor, running.

Stoke your system

Look for the positive
Ever wonder how some women seem to keep it all together? In reality, it’s as easy as putting a smile on your face – no joke! According to research from Yale University, positive thinking can actually have the same benefit as other healthy habits, like exercising, proper nutrition and not smoking. That means, when you’ve found your happy place, your endorphins will kick your body into high gear, giving you the boost you need to carry on through your day.

Eat More Often
We all know that clean eating will give us the fuel we need for our workouts and our lives. It’s not just what you eat, but also the timing of your meals that will keep your system from crashing mid-morning. Going without food for more than a few hours causes your blood sugar to drop, leaving you with little in your tank. So by eating five to six smaller meals across the day every two to three hours you’ll keep your blood sugar stable and your metabolism and energy levels on course.

Secret Scents
Whether you’re fighting a mid-day slump or trying to get revved up for the day, giving your nose a workout may be the trick. Scents like citrus, mint and pine send a positive signal to your brain that instantly make you feel more energetic. So something as simple as tossing a peppermint or citrus body wash in your gym bag may give your body an invigorating post-workout boost.
