Name: Jaime Perry Hometown: Sacramento, CA Gig: Middle school counselor Age: 35 Height: 5'5" Weight: 135 lb
Getting started:
This former college basketball player got turned onto weight training when her coach made the team start hitting the gym to stay in shape. To this day, she still loves the results she gets from regular weight workouts. “I’m motivated by the gains I make each time I work out,” she says. “There is not enough cardio in the world that would give me the same sculpted results.”
Pushing the limits:
Jaime was so happy with her progress that she entered a Figure contest last year, winning first in her class and overall. This year, she plans to bring her best to the Fitness stage in July. “I plan to push myself to bring the best package,” she says. “Knowing those one or two last reps can make a huge difference in my physique pushes me to complete that last set.”
Words of wisdom:
To others who want to compete or just live a healthier lifestyle, Jaime offers this piece of advice. “Whether it’s choosing a healthy food option or simply going for a walk, do one thing every day to improve your life.”
What do you listen to while working out?
“I listen to a variety of music when I work out. Since I get bored easily, I like to keep things interesting with my choice of music, which is eclectic. My playlist ranges from hip hop and R&B to pop and country.”
