• Duct Tape to the Rescue!

While I was on vacation I decided to go down the crazy 3-storey slide on the side of the boat on my knees. Needless to say, about half way down I realized this was a bad idea as I felt the pressure stressing the ligaments in my knees. As I hit the water, pain shot up my leg. I kicked my legs to get back to the boat, but my left leg decided it wasn’t going to participate and I knew I was in trouble.

    The dreaded slide

Seeing that we were floating around in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, going to the doctor wasn’t an option. So like any good trainer would do, I nicely asked the Captain of the boat for some duct tape! He looked at me a bit odd when I told him it was for my knee, but I assured him I was just fine, I just needed a little extra support for my ligament. Although it didn’t help much with the pain, it was a lifesaver for support so that I didn’t damage it any more.

Duct tape!I finally gave up on ignoring my knee and decided to head in to the doctor this week. The good news is that it’s a level three sprain of the MCL and most likely won’t need surgery. The doc was rather impressed by super fab tape job which was very similar to how Kinesio Tape is used to support MCL injuries. Although my knee isn’t up to speed my workouts will just be a bit more creative and trust me, I’ll be sharing all my new and exciting moves with you guys!

Stay tuned for lots of great upper body and ab workouts, looks like I’ve got a new focus for the next 6 weeks!! Any requests for upper body areas that need a little extra attention? Let me know!

P.S. This is by no means medical advice!! Be sure to hit up the doctor if you have an injury! I also recommend talking to a physical therapist about using Kinesio Tape on your aches and pains, it works great!
